Drain-All

Overview

Established in 1984, Drain-All had expanded steadily since its origins and employed more than 200 team members at their offices and operating facilities in Ottawa and Napanee. Factual performed a full rebrand exercise, and have since been purchased by the international waste management company, GFL Environmental.

The original Drain-All logo had used a D shape as a base (albeit a very complicated one), so the idea was to keep the brand equity by continuing to use one as the focal point. However, we wanted to simplify the design to ensure the mark's meaning was not getting lost at various sizes and applications.

Our blueprint for success - keep it simple, yet memorable. By making the drop horizontal we kept a beautiful symmetry. We modernized the colour palette, while still keeping the brand equity built up by the use of the green and orange.

Rebranding projects are time intensive and demand an understanding of who you are as a company and your messaging. Our friends at Factual did an amazing job modernizing the Drain-All brand. I highly recommend this team.

Richard Roth - Drain-All, CEO

We collaborated with Marianne Rothbauer at Rothbauer Studios, who took some fantastic shots of the office and fleet, as well as the portrait photos of the team.

Shortly after our re-branding effort, Drain-All were purchased by GFL Environmental. While we are sad that the Drain-All brand and logo will cease to exist, we keep this case study as a memento of a successful client-studio engagement and enjoy the small part we played in elevating Drain-All's brand.
