Design has impact
Every so often, someone asks why I take design so seriously.
“It’s not like you’re saving lives…”
And that’s fair. Design usually isn’t life-or-death in any obvious way. But it does influence decisions. Over time, those decisions add up.
A client recently shared that following the launch of their new visual identity, their annual conference revenue increased by over 1,300%.
That increase helped fund advocacy work on behalf of remote communities whose livelihoods depend on a single industry.
I don’t think design deserves more credit than it’s due. But I do think it deserves to be taken seriously.
The placement of a donate button. The image that invites empathy. The typeface that signals trust.
Small choices, made thoughtfully, can have consequences well beyond what we see on the screen.
